The late Willi Boskovsky was an Austrian violinist and conductor, best known as the long-standing conductor of the Vienna New Year's Concert. His style appeals to many Strauss fans as he directs Strauss' music in the manner of the "Vorgeiger" (directing the orchestra with the violin as popularized by Johann Strauss I as he conducted waltzes, polkas and other dance music).
