華納媒體 (WarnerMedia) 旗下串流平台正式宣布，他們將為 Joe Dante 在1984年執導的經典恐怖喜劇《小精靈》(Gremlins) 推出一部 10 集的前傳動畫影集系列，名為《小精靈：魔怪的秘密》(Gremlins: Secret of the Mogwai) 。這部影集的劇本將會由編劇 Tze Chun 撰寫，而他也將會擔任本片的執行製作。

動畫影集設定於 1920 年的上海，描述當時只有 10 歲的山姆溫恩 (Sam Wing) 如何遇到魔怪的故事，他將與青少年小偷艾倫帶著魔怪一起到中國的鄉下展開難忘的精采冒險，途中還會遇上許多中國神話中的怪獸以及神靈。而這趟旅程也會出現邪惡的小精靈大軍還有一位渴望權力的企業家，將對他們造成阻礙⋯⋯
