悲欢交响曲 Bitter Sweet Symphony-The Verve (Alternative Rock)
选自The Verve神韵合唱团的第三张专辑《Urban Hymn》。The Verve可以称为延续80年代新迷幻风潮的最佳代言人，成立于90年，来自英国小镇的他们，在独立厂牌Hut之下发行的首张专辑《A Storm In Heaven》便以丰沛迷离的吉他音墙、独树一格的编曲方式与旋律令所有的乐评惊艳。吉他手Nick McCabe善于在朦胧喧然的音效结构中营造出一股清新而冷凝的氛围，有着属于他们自己性格鲜明的旋律。

The Verve在这张专辑中更尝试了一种突破，在音乐中加入了大量弦乐编制，主唱的声音沙沙地撒落进心房。原有的迷幻氛围仍持续，但弦乐的优美却令人有超脱世俗之感。专辑中代表性的单曲《Bitter Sweet Symphony》同时也是当时英国榜上的宠儿。
难以想象他们是来自一个田园般的、纯朴的南方小镇。神韵合唱团面对当时颇为时髦的虚无逃避主义英国摇滚乐风气，他们时而松弛、时而压抑的风格超出了传统的歌曲结构，代之以空间摇滚之上的迷幻主义，外加爵士风格和氛围音乐脉络。 他们是一首华丽迷离的忧郁赞美诗。
